Hearing and Your Lifestyle

Do you have an active lifestyle?

  • Your job is physically and/or mentally demanding
  • You are retired but have never been busier
  • You are socially active, going to movies, plays, concerts and restaurants
  • You are active in the community, attending meetings, business and social events
  • Your are physically active, dancing, engaging in sports and outdoor recreation
  • You are technologically savvy and want the ‘latest and greatest’

If this describes your lifestyle, the following functionality may be considered:

  • Multi-Programs – You may be in court during the day, on the court after work and courting a loved one in the evening. A multi-program hearing aid adjusts to your lifestyle, not the other way around.
  • Directional Microphones – These will improve your ability to hear conversations in noisy situations. Great for productive business lunches and quality conversations in busy environments.
  • Noise Reduction – You’ll want to be sure that things like wind and road noise don’t negatively impact your ability to enjoy the great outdoors.
  • Bluetooth – Taking a ‘hands free’ call or enjoying your favourite music as you run aren’t things you need to give up when you have Bluetooth technology.
  • Wireless – Wearing two hearing aids doesn’t mean double the adjustments. Wireless technology assures seamless communication between both hearing aids with a simple adjustment to one, saving you the time you need.

Is your lifestyle more suited to leisure and recreation?

  • You enjoy relaxing, low impact and low intensity activities
  • You go out now and again, and don’t want hearing loss to impact the quality of your interaction with others and your surroundings
  • You want to enjoy leisure activities like watching television and listening to music
  • You like to spend quality time at home with friends and family
  • You want the functionality you need from a hearing aid but not necessarily all the ‘bells and whistles’

If this describes your lifestyle, the following functionality should be considered:

  • Directional Microphones – You’ll always be an active, attentive participant in conversations with colleagues, friends and family
  • Multi-Programs – This will maximize your enjoyment of music and conversations with friends and family.

Do you adhere to more of a “value first” lifestyle?
  • You may be active or leisurely but you are also working within a budget. The good news is that being budget-minded doesn’t mean you have to go without hearing aids. Your quality of life can still be substantially enhanced.

If budget is a priority, you can still benefit from hearing aids with form and function:

  • Open Fit – Behind the ear (BTE) and virtually invisible, open-fit design is discreet and functional
  • Feedback Cancellation – You won’t be affected by the whistling noises that many hearing aid wearers have suffered through. Feedback cancellation is a great compliment to any open fit hearing aid.
